The Fraternal Order of Police, Las Vegas Lodge 1, recently established The Las Vegas FOP Foundation. This foundation was primarily formed for our 444NRT-Officer Needs Help Emergency Nevada Response Team (NRT) in order to have a collaborated response to emergency situations involving police officers. This team responds with a relief/supply trailer to disasters and/or emergencies, both environmental and man-made, of such magnitude that lives of public safety community members are negatively impacted. Another function is to provide monetary aid to organizations that directly assist and support law enforcement officers and their families during disastrous times. Those organizations will include, but are not limited to, Injured Police Officers’ Fund (IPOF), Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Honor Guard, and the Route 91 Victims’ Memorial Fund . A separate restricted account has been set up for the collection of donations and contributions from any source. The Foundation was approved for exemption from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501 (c)(3), so donors can deduct contributions made under IRC Section 170.
